Christmas made Simple
MAMMA MARIA of Tuscany Bistro provides some helpful advice in hosting a Christmas dinner
I used to be an exhausted nervous wreck whenever I had to host a Christmas dinner. Today I make sure the appetisers are made in the morning or, if possible, even the day before. That way I can enjoy a well-deserved drink and a chat with my guests before we sit down to eat our dinner. I pick my favourite three nibbles and then plan shopping the day before. Plan the quantity of ingredients depending on the amount of guests your expecting.
Here’s my top three:
1. Parma Ham Grissini – Incredibly easy to make, just roll up the Parma ham & rocket on the top part of the grissini and place them in a large glass or bowl. They will be gone in a minute.
2. Baby Mozzarella balls, Cherry Tomatoes, Basil leaves. This is the easiest appetizer to make, also visually very appealing and bursts with Christmas colours. Don’ t forget the toothpick!
3. Brown bread, smoked salmon, cream cheese. Cut your favourite brown bread with a small round glass, spread the cream cheese on it and place the salmon delicately on top. Garnish with Parsley for colour
